Statement Against Intimidation of Kashmiri Students in Uttarakhand & Increasing Incidents of Communal Hatred

New Delhi, 25 April 2025 : The recent threats and harassment directed at Kashmiris, especially students and residents living outside the Valley, in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack are despicable acts fueled by hatred and aimed at dividing society. This is a shameful attempt to exploit a tragedy by communal, jingoistic, and bigoted forces.

In Uttarakhand, the CPI(ML) State Secretary Comrade Indresh Maikhuri has submitted a letter to the Director General of Police, demanding strict action against the so-called “Hindu Raksha Dal” and other communal groups that have openly threatened violence against Kashmiris. In another video circulating on social media, inflammatory and exaggerated claims about “millions of infiltrators” in the state have been made clearly intended to stoke fear and provoke communal polarization for narrow political gains.

Rising Communal Hatred and Bigotry

CPI(ML) also strongly condemns the wave of communal hatred and threats being directed at Muslims, both on social media and public sphere. One such disturbing incident was reported in Dadar, Mumbai, where Bengali Muslim vendors were abused and harassed.

Several prominent social media accounts, including those linked to the BJP-RSS establishment, are spreading fake news and fueling hatred against Kashmiris and Muslims. Merely removing such posts from social media is not enough. Failure to take decisive action only emboldens these divisive elements.

The individuals and groups responsible must face firm legal consequences. State governments must act swiftly and decisively to clamp down on the communal hatred and bigotry being actively propagated in public and online spaces.

Reject the forces of hate, communalism, and bigotry!
