AISA Protest in Allahabad

Some eighty years ago, Ambedkar had warned us 'if Hindu Raj becomes a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country' and he could not have been more prophetic.

AISA organized protests at Allahabad on 27 July 2020 for cancellation of exams during the pandemic and for waiving of room rent for students. State President Shailesh Paswan condemned the lathi charge on students in Ballia on their way to submit a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister. He said that India has become Number 3 on the list of countries in the world with the largest number of Corona cases. The decision to make students give exams in this situation is nothing short of pushing them to their deaths. He demanded that a law should be passed to stop landlords from forcibly collecting room rent from students during this pandemic. He also demanded withdrawal of fee hike at Kanpur, Meerut, Jhansi, Faizabad, Allahabad and other Agricultural Universities and cancellation of all exams during the pandemic. Protesters also demanded the release of Dr Kafeel Khan, anti-CAA protesters and all other political activists. AISA has stated that if the Notifications for conduct of exams issued by the Home Ministry and UGC on 6 and 7 July are not withdrawn and the exams are not cancelled, AISA will be constrained to come out on the streets in the interest of students.
