On March 11, Comrade Shashi Yadav, Politburo member of CPI(ML) and General Secretary of All India Scheme Workers' Federation filed her nomination for the Bihar MLC Elections. She is among the three women in the Mahagathbandhan panel of five candidates to fill eleven vacancies.
Comrade Shashi Yadav had been at the forefront of ASHA (frontline health workers) and Mid-Day meal workers' struggle in Bihar for working-class rights, better pay and dignity. In July 2023, she played an instrumental role in the 32-day historic strike action by ASHA workers and facilitators in the state that secured an increase in honorarium being paid for ASHAs.
