The ABVP, the student wing of the fascist RSS, has launched a campaign of abuse, violence, and death threats against Dr Ravi Kant, a Dalit intellectual and Associate Professor of Hindi at the Lucknow University, for challenging the RSS propaganda about the Gyan Vapi mosque in Varanasi.
We condemn the violence by the ABVP and demand that the University administration guarantee the safety of Dr Ravi Kant and his family, and file an FIR against the culprits. We also demand that the Lucknow University take steps to restore and protect the atmosphere of free speech, and democratic and fearless exchange of views which is the heartbeat of any university, and which the ABVP has been assaulting for too many years.
