CPIML Announces Badlo Bihar Nyay Yatra from October 16 to 25

Some eighty years ago, Ambedkar had warned us 'if Hindu Raj becomes a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country' and he could not have been more prophetic.

In a press conference held in Patna on October 5, 2024, CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya announced the launch of the 'Badlo Bihar Nyay Yatra' [Transform Bihar Justice March], a state-wide campaign from October 16 to 25, focusing on amplifying the voices of people of Bihar. He said that “vast areas of Bihar are reeling under flood. There's utter chaos over land survey and smart meters. There is increasing violence against Dalits, women, and the poor in the state. But Nitish Kumar and NDA are busy plotting their 2025 poll strategy. Bihar’s development narrative, centred around some roads and airports, is misleading and neglects the pressing problems of the people on ground.”

“Today, the people of Bihar want real change, and this yatra is the clarion call to transform Bihar and demand justice,” he added.

The upcoming Yatra will travel across five major routes, covering all districts of Bihar. CPIML aims to engage directly with the public, including scheme workers (ASHA, Anganwadi, etc.), farmers, students, and youth, addressing their demands for rights, jobs, and justice. The flood crisis, exacerbated by embankment breaches in Koshi, will also be a key issue. The Yatra will culminate in a grand Nyay Sammelan (Justice Convention) in Patna on October 27.

The Yatra builds upon the month-long Haq Do Vaada Nibhao [Give us Our Rights, Fulfil the Promises] campaign by CPIML focused on holding the government accountable for promises, such as housing and financial assistance made to marginalised communities, especially Dalits, women, and the poor.

Key Routes of the Badlo Bihar Nyay Yatra are as follows:

  1. Nawada to Patna: Led by Dipankar Bhattacharya, the route will highlight the recent incident where Dalit homes were burned by land mafia in Nawada under the guise of land surveys.

  2. Sasaram to Ara: Led by CPIML state secretary Kunal and MP Raja Ram Singh.

  3. Jaynagar to Vibhutipur: Led by Dhirendra Jha and Manju Prakash.

  4. Bhitharwa Ashram to Muzaffarpur: Led by Virendra Prasad Gupta.

  5. Siwan to Chhapra: Led by Satyadev Ram and others.
