CPIML Pays Tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pledges to Protect Constitution

Some eighty years ago, Ambedkar had warned us 'if Hindu Raj becomes a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country' and he could not have been more prophetic.

RESPONDING to the countrywide call given by Left parties, tributes were paid to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on his anniversary on 14 April. On this occasion CPIML activists across the state of Bihar pledged to protect the Constitution. They also made the following demands: send cash help as well as food and rations to the poor and needy during the lockdown; strengthen the bonds of social unity without discriminating on the basis of religion, caste, gender, or incapacity; oppose the attack on people’s lives, freedom and democratic rights during the lockdown in the name of fighting the pandemic; curb any sort of expression of untouchability or discrimination.

The 129th Ambedkar Jayanti was observed across Uttar Pradesh By CPIML while observing Corona prevention guidelines and maintaining physical distancing. The demand was made for the release of dalit writer Prof Anand Teltumbde, intellectual and journalist Gautam Navlakha and all other activists arrested in the name of ‘urban Naxals’.

Ambedkar Jayanti was observed at Banaras by distributing relief materials like soap, masks and gloves at the sanitary workers’ Mohalla in Nakhi Ghat. While talking to sanitary workers we learnt that no safety equipment is being provided to them, which is a matter of serious concern and a source of life-threatening danger to them.

Ambedkar Jayanti was also observed at Chandauli, Sakaldiha, Chahaniya, Naugarh, Sitapur, Faizabad, Allahabad and other places.
