Left Parties Meet in Uttar Pradesh

Some eighty years ago, Ambedkar had warned us 'if Hindu Raj becomes a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country' and he could not have been more prophetic.

On 17 December 2021 a meeting of the Left parties in Uttar Pradesh was held in the capital Lucknow. In the joint meeting, it was decided that the Left parties will unite secular and democratic forces against the communal and anti-people misrule of the BJP in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The Left parties have been continuously agitating in the state on the issues of communalism, law and order and the problems of farmers and labourers as well as spiralling inflation, and it is on these issues that Left parties will fight the election.

It was also decided that Left parties would organize statewide struggles on the issues of increasing attacks on Dalit women and minorities, unemployment, anti-worker laws, shortage of fertilizers, paddy procurement, repeal of Electricity Bill 2021, for passing a law to guarantee MSP, and regular distribution of grains, sugar, dal and oil to the poor under PDS. The meeting demanded the dismissal and arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni who had attacked the farmers, is implicated in the conspiracy to murder farmers in Lakhimpur Kheeri, and also recently attacked a journalist.
