Left Parties Protest in Solidarity with Samsung Workers Strike in Chennai

Some eighty years ago, Ambedkar had warned us 'if Hindu Raj becomes a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country' and he could not have been more prophetic.

On October 5, 2024, CPIM, CPI and CPI(ML) Liberation held a solidarity protest in Chennai supporting the workers of Samsung who are on strike demanding recognition of their union, wage revision and regulated working hours. The strike, which began on September 9, 2024, involved over 1,100 employees from Samsung's manufacturing unit in Sriperumbudur.

The solidarity protest was led by CPIM Tamil Nadu state secretary Comrade K. Balakrishnan, CPI(ML) Liberation state secretary Comrade P. Asaithambi , CPI state secretary Comrade R Mutharasan and several other leaders from the left parties and trade unions. The left parties condemned the company's actions and expressed solidarity with the workers in their struggle for the right to organise, and better working conditions.
