Rural Workers’ Protest in Trichy

Some eighty years ago, Ambedkar had warned us 'if Hindu Raj becomes a fact, it will, no doubt, be the greatest calamity for this country' and he could not have been more prophetic.

AIARLA demonstrated in front of the Manaparaai panchayat Union office in Trichy, Tamilnadu on 22 March demanding state government's statutory wages of Rs.273, provision of employment under MNREGA to all needy persons, opposing photography of workers on the spot, payment of wages on time etc. AIARLA insisted for implementation of all MNREGA norms as this being a governmental and the Gov must fulfil its statutory obligation in the same way as it does for the government employees or MLAs and MPs. A memorandum was submitted to the chairperson of the panchayat union.
